Gaylynne Flitton

As a teen, working as a ride operator on Colossus at Lagoon, I was constantly trying to figure out how the ride worked. I knew that math and physics were somehow involved. After taking a physics class as a math major at Weber State University, I started to get a better understanding of how mathematics relates to the real world and so I switched to Utah State University where I earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating, I decided to take time off to stay home full time with my newborn son. Twenty years and three more children later, I was still home full time, and I realized how much I enjoyed tutoring my children in junior high and high school math classes. When my youngest child was in fourth grade, I went back to school and earned a BA in Secondary Mathematics Education from Western Governor’s University. I taught 7th, 9th, and 10th grade mathematics for Davis County School District.
I joined Liberty Hills Academy because I love their mission statement and I believe in their purpose.
I love being a wife, mother, and grandma. I still love rollercoasters. Besides doing many DIY
projects and spending time with family, my husband and I enjoy bird watching, gardening, and traveling to visit Frank Lloyd Wright houses.

What Our Parents Are Saying

"Liberty Hills Academy has established the culture I want my children immersed in every day! Kids and staff are accepting and kind to everyone, moral principles are taught, classic books and materials are used, small class sizes. Relaxed enough for kids to be their best selves yet structured enough that they learn respect for adults and each other. Parents are encouraged to be involved and are always welcome. I could go on and on. My boys, ages 14 and 8, love it.
